We have this small pair of birds nesting 3 meters from our gas stove. Very interesting to follow so closely.
The closest I can come to an identification is some type of Bulbul.
The male and female looks the same.
The only "singing" I have heard sounded like drrrdrrrdrrrdrrr.

A new shot from this afternoon.
Within 24 hours they got feathers.

What a great sequence Bo. Afraid I am no good with bird IDs though.

Think your ID is right, the adult does have streaks.
But as you have probably already seen there are a bunch of bulbul species in the bird books that are very similar to eachother.

Bulbuls can be tough to identify - especially the 'drab' brown ones! But you have a nice close, clear image here that makes it easier. Those subtle streaks on the cheek give it away as you have suggested - it's definitely Streak-eared Bulbul.

Hi Wildambience,

Welcome to the forum. We could use a real birder around here, haha. At least, I make up from the confirmed IDs you posted today that you know what you are talking about ;) .
Seems like most of the members on this forum are more into mammals than birds, so you are more than welcome to help us out.

Thanks!

I'll help where I can!

Looking forward to benefiting from the experience of you guys too, especially when it comes to mammals. My wife & I will be in Thailand at the end of May (Huai Kha Kaeng) & then again in late July. I'm sure I'll have some questions to post in the coming weeks!

Thanks

Marc

Thank you for the comfirmation on ID.

This morning I got a few shots of the babies, shortly before they fledged.

And a not so good shot of one of the parents.

About an hour later there was a lot of noise from the tree with the nest. I saw at least five adult birds in the tree and around the tree. All giving out alarm calls. One fledgling was already on the ground, and the other one jumped from the nest, when I was looking. They managed to get up into a small lemontree, where they stayed for about an hour, with the parents close by.

There was an unhatched egg left in the nest.
