I especially like the female and male pheasant shot.

What is your 'opinion' on this species? The books are rather confusing, and so are the opinions of other birders.
Is it Silver Pheasant or Kalij Pheasant?
Maybe there is no clear answer.

Nice!
Good to see these partridges in detail in your shots. Often see them running off in the forest, but usually too dark to get a shot.

Lophura leucomelanos crawfurdii is the subspecies of Kalij in Kaeng Krachan which do look very like Silver. These are very unlike Kalij elsewhere and the KK ones identity has been debated before. Taken from another forum www.birdforum.net/showthread.php?t=256746

Thanks!
Through that link, I took a look at wiki where between the references they mention the: Mitochondrial DNA diversification among the subspecies of the silver and kalij pheasants, Lophura nycthemera and L. leucomelanos, Phasianidae
I googled the paper and the abstract shows their conclusion that the subspecies of "crawfurdii" belongs to Lophura leucomelanos so indeed Kalij Pheasant.
Glad there is a clear answer ;)
It's interesting how different it looks from the 'original' Kalij Pheasant, and more appears like Silver Pheasant.
Though, they are quite differently looking from the Silver Pheasants I have seen in the east (Khao Yai NP, Phu Khieo WS).
Thanks for helping solve the mystery ;)
