admin created the topic: Asian Ant Mantis (Odontomantis planiceps)
The Asian Ant Mantis (Odontomantis planiceps), so called for its apparent mimicry of an ant during its nymph/instar phases.

This is a very small mantis and I saw it for the first time, and only so far, in the Chaloem Phrakiat Thai Prachan National Park (an "extension" of Kaeng Krachan) a couple of months ago. The pictures show two instars. One was about 5 mm long and the other about 12 mm. The ant mimicry is only in the early instars and the adults do not resemble ants at all.
