We are in the middle of the floods here although the water is surrounding the house it is not high enough to get inside. I have been expecting to see some snakes as those that live on the riverbank of in the garden look for dry places. This afternoon we saw 2 small snakes, the one in the photos would be 100 cm long with the other a bit bigger, am picking them to be new hatched Kukri Snakes (striped) but would like some input.
This is the same species as the juvenile, Cambodian Kukri Snake, Oligodon mouhoti.
Similar to the Striped Kukri Snake but most clearly the two dots on the tail are not found in the Striped Kukri Snake, Oligodon taeniatus.
Generally the stripes are more pronounced in the Striped Kukri Snake; these species are quite closely related.
