Patrick Brown's latest book project "Trading to Extinction" is now available. I was introduced to his photography by Tim at Freeland a couple of years ago and it really is stunning as well as very emotive. I was so moved by some of his work that I actually bought this book when it was still a project and not even complete or published - I think that says it all regards how highly I admire his work. Am immensely looking forward to it arriving on my door step soon.
Patrick is based in Bangkok.
"Patrick Brown’s ten-year project has been made into a unique photographic book. The photographs have all been shot on black & white film and printed in hand by Patrick himself, enhancing the reality behind the images while enforcing a lost art in classic photography. His work is accompanied by an introduction written by British journalist and author Ben Davies, which takes the reader through a first hand experience of the seedy world of the illegal wildlife trade in Asia.
Trading to Extinction is a high quality photographic book, designed and managed by one of the world’s leading book designers, Stuart Smith from London. The book is printed at one of the very best printing house in the world, Editoriale Bortolazzi Stei (EBS) in northern Italy."

Thanks for the link, my sister actually bumped into him in Chiang Mai a few weeks ago and said he was an extremely nice chap aswell as being an immensely talented photographer..
Hopefully his work will increase awareness of this despicable trade and motivate more people to be proactive in helping to stamp this out, perhaps we could even pile these books gate high outside all the Chinese embassies within Asia!

Trading to Extinction book selected by AmericanPhoto, as one of the of best documentary books of 2014.
The book explores the sad truths behind this multi billion-dollar industry and is one of the most comprehensive photographic documents on the wildlife trade, spanning more than 10 years and offering a rare view into this illicit business. It is a shocking tale of cruelty, crime and human greed. This is an industry which, like the drugs trade, is fuelled by money, and whose tentacles encircle the world, from the remote forests of Asia to the trafficking hubs of Beijing, Bangkok, London, Tokyo and New York.

Some fantastic photography in this book. Perhaps not as stirring as his previous work, but great nonetheless. It's subject matter is something that desperately needs to get more attention. Compelling imagery is a way to do that, often far more effectively than trying to reach people through statistics.
