Picture of the Month - Sun Bear (Helarctos malayanus)

This month's Picture of the Month award goes to Ton Smits for his amazing up close shot of a Malaysian Sun Bear (Helarctos malayanus) in the Khao Yai National Park. It is very rare to catch even a glimpse of Thailand's wild bears and Ton has not only suceeded in that but has also captured a stunning photograph with the bear beautifully framed in grassland. You can read more of how Ton took the photograph by clicking here

Thanks for the honour!
I actually thought Richard L Stokes should win this one with his amazing shots of a Leopard in Kaeng Krachan. Though December is approaching...

Haha thanks Ton, yours is a beautiful shot though, I love the way the blackness of the bear contrasts with the light green of the grasses..

Actually they BOTH won guys. They are both fantastic shots! Luke's won before but I did not put up an announcement as it was on the front page already. Sorry for the confusion :)
