This is a major achievement for the DNP and for justice, not only in relation to this case but also precedent has now been set. The case will probably go to appeal with the criminals released on bail pending the appeal hearing.

Premchai Karnasuta has been given another jail term, this time 6 months (supposedly unsuspended) for firearms possession but he has not yet done a day in jail nor is there any concrete news when or that he will actually end up spending a single day in jail.

The story as it is reported can be read here....

Premchai just failed in the appeal court and had his sentence doubled to over 3 years.
BUT was immediately released on bail so he could lodge an appeal with the Supreme Court.
This is something I will never understand.

Yesterday his appeal against the "illegal possession of firearms" failed as well.

He will now take all these separate cases to the Supreme Court so he will not be in danger of seeing any prison time until after the Supreme Court cases are heard and adjudged. Sometime in the future.

SInce the Appeals court rulings earllier in 2020, there have been no further updates on this case. We understand that the case is still awaiting to be heard at the Supreme Court and that Premchai continues to be "free" on bail.

His convictions to date are attempted bribery, illegal possession of a dead pheasant and weapons, as well as supporting poaching. He was not found guilty of killing the leopard by the court. His sentence time is currently 2 years and 4 months, subject to the future Supreme Court hearing.

Premchai's Supreme Court ruling will be made public on December 8, 2021. Thailand is once again on the brink of a major legal ruling that may or may not bring justice in the eyes of many. We await the verdict.
