Lost in a National Park !?!

Am surprised such a large group took the risk of going on a trek in an area they apparently did not know well enough. But I think 'we' are lucky this time that the group that got lost were Thai nationals. It seems like if it happens to be foreign nationals that there is more media attention/ pressure meaning the park authorities feel like they need to do something. While in my opinion they should just say that the people entered on their own risk.
This case happened far from the actual visitor area, so I doubt it will change much for the average visitor.

It surprises me how protective the park authorities tend to be. To my knowledge Thailand is not a country where people easily sue a government body, a business, or even just another person. It's not the US where a coffee shop has to put a sticker on the coffee mug warning the customer that the coffee might be hot which could cause injuries if spilled on a body part. Total waste of money. And totally ridiculous.
Still, for some reason the park authorities are so scared in these parks that something will happen to a visitor.
In my opinion they should just put a big sign at the gate clerly informing the park is home to dangerous wildlife, and entering the forest adds the risk of getting lost. Also on the roads wildlife or falling trees could form a danger, so by entering this park you admit to do so at your own risk. The park authorities are not responsible for anything that might happen to you or your vehicle.
But I guess they do not want to scare the visitors :S

The Bangkok post is reporting another group lost in a forest/jungle in Chiang Mai.

11 Amercan exchange students. Safely out now.

It was not yet reported on this forum but a Thai man got lost in Khao Yai national park about 3 weeks ago.
Apparently yesterday (16 NOV 2018) his body has been found by tourists near the Saisorn reservoir.
The location makes me doubt that he was lost, because with the amount of traffic near that area, he should have been able to follow the sound or if at night the lights of the cars.
As far as I have seen the news does not report on the cause of death yet. I think they are awaiting autopsy. 
Though it was mentioned that some wildlife had been eating off the body. But that could have been anything, even porcupines. 
Either way, sad news, especially for his family.

Another group lost and found.

"SURAT THANI: Rescuers found a Polish family, including two children, who were lost in a hilly forest on Koh Phangan, after a search lasting more than three hours on Monday night.

Local officials began a search in Ban Hat Rin forest about 5.30pm.

They found the family about 9pm, tired and waiting, seated on rocks in the forest. "

Yet another one, who is still lost at this time on Koh Samui......

SURAT THANI: A search was continuing for a Spaniard who called police on Sunday night, saying he was lost on a steep mountainside near Na Muang waterfall on Koh Samui.

About 50 local officials and rescue workers were mobilised after the man called local tourist police at 8.20pm saying he could not find a trail back in the dark from the waterfall and was starving and thirsty.
