parks closed 2018

This is an up to date (2018) list supplied by the DNP to document all national park closures in 2018.

This is normal practice, as the DNP closes several parks every year for a certain period, depending on the weather and park conditions. The closures are often due to safety concerns caused by extreme weather, especially during the rainy seasons.

Thailand currently has a total of 147 national parks, covering 13.64 percent of the land area of the country. Of the total, there are 59 national parks in the North, 43 in the South, 25 in the Northeast, and 20 in the Central, Western and Eastern Regions.

This year, the Department is closing attractions in 66 national parks nationwide, including 24 national parks in the North, 28 in the South, nine in the Northeast, and five in the Central, Western and Eastern Regions. Those are:

We have not seen a new list published for 2019 yet but the list is usually 99% the same each year.

There will be some small changes to the Marine National Parks as we have seen a continuation of the DNP's actions to curb over-tourism and wildlife/habitat protection in those areas by extending long term rehabilitation closures in some marine areas.
