× Note: Sanctuaries are different to National Parks in Thailand, Thailand currently has established 39 sanctuaries and access is more restrictive as their role is as a sanctuary for wildlife rather than a park for the nation. Some sanctuaries do allow limited access to tourists.

Huai Kha Kaeng daytrip - lots of banteng and boar.

Just at the entrance to HKK there are a few watchtowers outside the park boundary.  There is a fence around the boundary but it's broken in many places so the animals can get in and out easily.  I think these watchtowers have been put up by the landowner and perhaps people pay to sit there on organised tours, I'm not sure.  Every time I've been past there's not been anybody around so the last time I camped there overnight.  Convenient on a bicycle not to have to cycle back to the main road and find a hotel or a temple, because HKK doesn't allow camping.  It is a great place for banteng they seem to be there every day in the morning.  When I woke up they were right next to the watchtower, they saw me before I had my camera to hand so the pictures were 20 seconds late, after they'd trotted off.  To get to this area you have to make a right turn off the road at 15.58993279589524, 99.39437055434533 onto a dirt road and keep left through 200 metres of forest until you get to the open fields.  Watchtower is at approx 15.594965357583568, 99.39111779665977

I put a camera trap up on the boundary fence as well, I'll upload those pictures later.  There were lots of boar and an elephant but no tigers!
