× Note: Sanctuaries are different to National Parks in Thailand, Thailand currently has established 39 sanctuaries and access is more restrictive as their role is as a sanctuary for wildlife rather than a park for the nation. Some sanctuaries do allow limited access to tourists.

That's an amazing tree!

Which areas are open for visitors without prior permission?
Seems worth exploring.

Takro is open, and well kept for local tourism. A local waterfall kept open for the local communities (i.e. a week day would be better ;+).

Bo Tawng also open, but you need a prior arrangement (i.e. local not central) to go to the Khao Ang Rue Nai Waterfall site as its a 12 k trip. We walked the track for about 4/5 K.

UPDATE JUNE 2014 All other accesses are now closed and physical barriers have been put in place as well. The only public access locations are now Takro and Bo Tawng.
