ID Help - Goshawk? was created by Paul T
Can anyone kindly help me with the ID of this raptor - is it a goshawk? Or maybe a Besra? Photographed quite deep in the forest on a dry river bed. Its two images with different views merged not two birds.

Looks good for a Crested Goshawk (Accipiter trivirgatus). This species is 'heavier set' than the smaller, more delicate Besra or other small Accipiters found in Thailand. The powerful legs and talons, as well as the relatively large beak and stern-looking brow-ridge above the eye all point to Crested Goshawk (as well as the crest [which is usually hidden], which you can just make out in the photo on the right!)
