As tropical forest photographers you all know that, perhaps, your biggest hurdle to lots of great pictures is getting enough light to enable a high shutter speed when in the forest. The standard way to overcome this is to raise the ISO but that creates noisy images that are unusable unless they are reduced in size to tiny images.

The future may hold a boost for us with AI processing of noisy images ................ a team (Chen Chen, Qifeng Chen, Jia Xu and Vladlen Koltun) at the University of Illinois has been looking at "pipeline AI" (what ever that is) ..... and the results are quite remarkable.
